8. Writing Essays / 作文 / Karangan – Videos & Marking Service

Even before school closure, I’ve signed up for essay writing videos and marking service to help my eldest child.

We signed up for the essay writing videos, which my son finds useful.

They present Chinese essay writing techniques for the child to write fluently and to achieve higher marks during examinations.

This is a company based in Penang. It provides a database of school exam papers for free.

My favourite is its bank of essay questions for Chinese, BM and English, with essay marking service by qualified teachers.

This dynamic BM teacher and tutor has produced interesting karangan and tatabahasa Youtube videos.

    1. Hi Lau, thank you for your message. The link doesn’t work anymore, so I’m checking with teachers and will update when it’s available. Do ask around and let me know when you get the link. Thank you very much.

  2. Hi Carol, the online digital textbooks link for Form 1 – Form 6 is not working.. Do you have any alternative? Thank you.

  3. Hi, do you know how do i get an auto reading kinda things, example to read bhasa cina text book? My prob is most of the words in text book he dont know. Thank you.

    1. Hi Neela, for a start, you may use this online dictionary: https://www.mummyshomeschool.com/learn-chinese-reading-writing-pronunciation-line-dictionary/

There are also many Youtube videos on the SJKC syllabus.
      – Add Chinese Simplified Handwriting keyboard to your gadget. This allows you to follow the Chinese strokes and type.
      – Go to Youtube
      – Type “SJKC” and the “unit title” in the search bar
      – Choose video of teacher going through the textbook passage word for word

Another option is to buy a reading / translation pen. Let me know if you need more information on this.

      All the best!

  4. Hello Carol. Thanks very much for your links and information. Can you please advise what is ‘semakan’?

    Thank you in advance.

    1. Hello Karen, as a non-Malaysian, I’m not fluent in the Malay language. Google translates “semakan” as “review”.

So KSSR Semakan probably means a review of the old KSSR syllabus, meaning KSSR Reviewed.

      Hope this helps.
