[Printable] Singapore National Day

It’s Singapore’s birthday.

When I was young, my dad would bring us to watch the annual NDP fireworks 🎆.

During Secondary 2 days, my school participated in the National Day Parade (NDP) performance.

We spent months rehearsing in school and at Padang. It was a year of minimum homework and tonnes of fun with friends.

What’s on our shelf

Today, I spent some time updating our thematic shelf so that the kids can learn more about where Mummy comes from.

The simple shelf covers 3 languages (English, Chinese, Malay), Math, Science, History & Geography. Try to spot them!

Let’s take a closer look:

Bilingual Printables

Some ideas to use the English-Chinese cards:

  • story telling about Singapore
  • matching to other materials
  • matching to words in books
  • matching pictures to labels

You may invite your child to try out the Math activities using the data provided on the cards.

Math Tip

How many years are there from 1965 to 2021?

To calculate the above mentally, you may try this method to guide your child:

  • 1965 to 1970: 5 years
  • 1970 to 2000: 30 years
  • 1965 to 2000: 30 + 5 = 35 years
  • 2000 to 2021: 21 years
  • 1965 to 2021: 35 + 21 = 56 years
