Learning from life’s challenges

Our Year 2013 homeschool lessons have started — after Vee recovered from fever / diarrhoea, amidst Jae’s fever / diarrhoea, and disrupted water supply for the past 3 days.

We’ve been learning that:

  • life isn’t a bed of roses
  • our body is capable of recovering after an illness, and
  • to treasure EVERY drop of water!

In the meantime, I’ve had to say “no” to messy play such as play dough and paint, and getting too dirty / sweaty from outdoor play, because we can’t afford to use our remaining water supply for too much cleaning.

Last night, we could only wipe ourselves clean with a damp cloth. We managed to go through the day with less than 2 big pails of water in the bathroom.

Still, the kids have found their own ways of entertaining themselves within the given limits. Dancing to music, Lego, reading, and playing with a remote control car.

Best lessons ever.
